Taiwan Construction Research Institute (TCRI) is a non-profit organization that aims to promote and encourage related researches on construction technology and management.  Established by RSEA Engineering Corporation (former RSEA), National Taiwan University and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology in May of 1981, the Institute was further expanded, regulated and became Taiwan Construction Research Institute in 1996.

Responding to the competitive international construction market,  TCRI's missions are to research and investigate construction related technology and management practice, conglomerate industry, government, and academia to amend domestic construction environment and improve construction technology.

 


The objectives of TCRI include :

  1. Examine and make recommendations on construction laws and regulations.
  2. Facilitate the collection, compilation, publication and dissemination of construction related data and information.
  3. Conduct researches on construction techniques and materials.
  4. Conduct researches on construction management.
  5. Assist in the training of construction personnel, promotion of new construction techniques, and the cooperation between industry and academia.
  6. Promote international and cross Straits construction exchange activities.
  7. Study, investigate, examine, and analyze other construction related issues and difficulties.

Engineering Technology Division I

Major Functions :

Responsible for compiling and promoting studies of construction automation and e-commerce accelerating the use of automation and e-commerce in Taiwan's construction industry. The Center is currently subsidized by the Construction and Planning Administration of the Ministry of the Interior and focuses its effort on five major areas : bridge engineering, tunneling, pre-cast construction and concrete applications.

  2. Promotion of new NDT technology and application
  3. Development of new engineering technology
  4. Maintenance engineering of transportation infrastructure
  5. Development of management of hazard mitigation and reaction plan

Responsible for inspecting, supervising, testing, examining and accrediting construction techniques.

Major Tasks : 

  1. Provide certification of ISO 9000 for construction industry and GRMC® for ready mix concrete plant.
  2. Provide technical consulting for ready mixing concrete related topics.
  3. Perform all types of structural (Bridge and building) inspection, analysis, inspection, testing and investigation.
  4. Provide non-destructive test and loading test.

Construction Management Division

         Responsible for investigating construction resource information.

Major Tasks :         

  1. Integrate and promote the database of technology for public construction.
  2. Investigate and analyze the market supply/demand information of construction resources.
  3. Develop the database of construction resources and related information systems.
  4. Publish the bi-monthly Construction Cost Data and provide related website services.
  5. Provide project management services for the architect/engineer/construction industry.
  6. Execute researches and consulting services for privatized infrastructure projects.
  7. Execute researches and consulting services on engineering insurance and risk analysis.
  8. Conduct researches on real estate investment and securitization.
  9. Conduct researches on construction management, law, finance and economics.
  10. Provide training courses to construction management professionals.

Professional Training & Education Division

Information Center Of Construction Industry

Major Tasks :

  1. Integrate and promote the intelligence database of construction industry.
  2. Develop the database of construction resources and related information systems.
  3. Investigate and analyze the market supply/demand information of construction resources.
  4. Publish the bi-monthly Construction Cost Data and provide E-commercial services.
  5. To provide government agencies with recommendations on the long-term planning and direction of public construction project as well as constructive suggestions related to the construction industry.
  6. Promptly responding to clients' needs in ever-changing environments by coordinating TCRI’s researchers, analysts and cooperated specialists to provide multi-disciplinary services.

Administration Division

Major Functions:

Responsible for managing, implementing and overseeing all administrative activities within the Institute.

Major Tasks :

  1. Establish document filing system, dispatch and receive official documents, collect, categorize and retain all in-house document files.
  2. Coordination in research projects between government, industry and academia.
  3.  Establish general service system and implement various administrative affairs.
  4. Perform asset procurement for all sections.
  5. Manage all kinds of fund activities.
  6. Establish personnel system.  Implement procedures for recruiting employee, and manage in-house staff. Carry out performance appraisal.
  7. Assist in carrying out all kinds of administrative activities in other sections.
  8. Set up accounting system. Execute accounting activities including account balancing and drafting financial statements, etc.
